mike4488 Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Hi I am going to NYC from March 12 through March 16th. March 12th I already have a reservation at the Warwick so I am looking to get 2 rooms a night from March 13th through March 16th. I am trying to keep the price per room under $130 a night and have not been having any luck. I even tried Brooklyn and Jersey City. I was going to see if anybody could offer any tips or advice. Thanks

Also, do you think that hotels just haven't released many rooms to priceline yet and I might have more luck as the date gets closer. thanks.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 What is the minimum star rating you've been bidding?Which zones have you included? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mike4488 Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 2.5* is the minimum that I have been going. I have bid for all NYC zones plus Jersey City at 3* and Brooklyn at 3*. My backup hotel right now is an Embassy Suites in Secaucus but would really like to get something in Manhattan or at least Jersey City if at all possible.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 What is the rate at the Embassy Suites (which as per our support page we're an affiliate of) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mike4488 Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 What is the rate at the Embassy Suites (which as per our support page we're an affiliate of)The rate at the Embassy Suites is 230 dollars a night. Reason we went with it as a backup is because it appeared that taking the bus into NYC would be pretty easy and they had free parking. Just looking to be directly in Manhattan if at all possible but really don't want to go below 2.5* on price line because we don't' want to get stuck in a dump.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 So if your back-up, which doesn't have your desired location, is $230/nite... why is your maximum bid for a hotel in Manhttan (which is your desired location) only $130? :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mike4488 Posted February 22, 2008 Author Report Posted February 22, 2008 Oh sorry. Well there are 4 of us so at the Embassy Suites we only needed one room but if we were to stay at a normal hotel in Manhattan (small rooms I hear and only guarantee for 2 people) we would need to have 2 hotel rooms. That'll bring the 2 rooms together to be like 260 as are max and then getting into taxes it becomes close to 300 a night.
thereuare Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 If you're willing to declare 2adults/2children (so that you'll be assured of two beds) on HOTWIRE there is a 3* in the MTC zone for $209/nite (your price may differ slightly) with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet which has previously been reported at the Holiday Inn Midtown. Obviously if you go this route you don't have all four of you walk up to the check-in counter (two people can wonder the hotel lobby or walk around the block). The only other thing i'm seeing close to your budget is the Astor on the Park for $133/nite per room. This place is 'pretty far north' (106th Street), but you're near 3 different subway lines, and the reviews range from "Hate it" to "OK" to "Very Good": reviewsAny of the above work for you? mike4488 Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 Thanks for the help. Probably would have to go with 2 rooms if we are doing it in Manhattan so the hotwire hotel wouldn't work. Let me ask you. I wrote down all of the prices for Manhattan hotels on Priceline and Hotwire. I am going to go back and check these prices come a week or so. If they start to fall do you think that there is a good chance that the hotels might start to release some more rooms for lower prices to priceline? Thanks for all the help.
thereuare Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 It's possible, but down to $130 doesn't seem likely at the moment.Probably would have to go with 2 rooms if we are doing it in Manhattan so the hotwire hotel wouldn't workWhy?? Using HOTWIRE as per the above will ensure 2 beds in the room. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dahammer Posted February 23, 2008 Report Posted February 23, 2008 rates could increase too. :) Its best to book a cancellable backup.
