lisa in edmonton Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Am I right in assuming that Treasure Island is the only 4* that has been coming up in the area? I know there is always the chance for others..For bidding, are the Airport and Nellis the free bid zones? I assume Summerlin isn't because that includes resorts? I am looking to bid from 3/30 until 3/4. Do you think it is too early to start bidding? Thanks so much for your help, and I will use the Savingsbarn link if I am ready to start bidding!
thereuare Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 You have your re-bid zones correct :)As far as when to bid, what are the correct dates of your stay (listed above as March 30 to March 4)?There is a further discussion as to when to bid in our PRICELINE FAQ. lisa in edmonton Posted February 20, 2008 Author Report Posted February 20, 2008 Okay,I am ready to bid... my max is $120 for a 4 star on the North strip (I don't want to risk getting the Westin). It may be wishful thinking to get a rate that low, but we can book Monte Carlo for cheaper if we need to. Again, the date are March 30 - April 3. Can anyone review a bidding strategy with me? Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 NOTE: The last two nites of your stay are much more expensive than the first two nites. If SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID is an option, hold-off on the bidding the following and post back as we'll revise accordingly. At the 4* leel you have two re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: Summerlin is not one of them)The following will likely be too low, but with time on your side i would begin as follows:Select 4* North Strip...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North Strip and re-bid zone2...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85.Any questions feel free to ask.I wold recommend booking the Monte Carlo as a back-up (assuming it's fully refundable).... if rates go up from here you'll be protected, if they go down or you are successful with priceline then you simply cancel the reservation. Please use our Monte Carlo link (or any of the others in our support page) to make your reservation if you do take this advice.Good Luck and let us know how it goes (or if you decide that you're willing to split the bid). lisa in edmonton Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Thanks for your help! After consideration and seeing what people were having to bid for 4 and 5* hotels, we decided to book online directly with the hotels. We have booked at both MGM and the Luxor, and will cancel one as we get closer. This way, if the price goes down on either of those, we can make a choice. Got some good rates to start with. Perhaps Priceline will be a better option for next trip!
dahammer Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 thanks for your follow up post, but if you can, please use the Travel Links to reserve your Luxor or MGM stay and BetterBidding will continue to be a free, valuable travel resource in the future.
