dahammer Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Started bidding in the Fort Lee area for a 3*, but was rejected up to $85. Dropped to 2* and bid up to $75 with no luck. Checked HOTWIRE and I saw a 3* Best Value for $79 with these amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access. The Breakfast amenity threw me, I didn't know which hotel this was, but I knew it wasn't the Radisson Holiday Inn in Saddle Brook or the Crowne Plaza in Paramus. 1 room $79.00 Tax recovery charge and fees:$17.23Total: $96.23I really wish HOTWIRE would split this massive zone into 2 or 3 zones akin to Priceline, its a bit deceiving to include Fort Lee in the name since most of the wins are in the far west part of this zone. This hotel is 10 miles from Ft.Lee which could be 45 minutes in morning traffic. I have stayed at this property before when it was an Amerisuites and it can only be better since the name change to Hyatt. Overall I'm happy with the win as the rack rate is $189.
thereuare Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks for the report. Please let us know how this property is. I sometimes need to advise friends of this area and they usually end up at the Crowne Plaza near Paramus Park... it would be nice to offer an alternative.Hope you're enjoying your stay... did you manage to resist heading just a bit west for a steak at the River Palm? dahammer Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 ... did you manage to resist heading just a bit west for a steak at the River Palm? No, but I tried ElCid on Paramus Ave, it was just "OK", not as good as some of the Spanish restaurants in the Newark area and more expensive to boot. Rooms at the Hyatt Place have been renovated, there's a sectional sofa, wet bar, small refrigerator and desk in the living area. A wall seperates the sleeping area and there is a 42" flat panel TV with a few HD channels. WiFi and Breakfast are both free. The hotel also features an indoor pool.
thereuare Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 I've heard good things about the steaks there, but you probably woul have been better off at the 'local chicken parm hero' place :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
