roothy Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Bid accepted for Sanibel Gateway area, 2 stars, La Quinta Monday Feb. 11 for $98. Several days ago, bid something like $97 for Sanibel. Increased to 99 and chose Sanibel Gateway. Rejected. Today said the heck with it and bid $98 for two star in Sanibel and Gateway. La Quinta for $98 isn't exactly a steal, since AAA price for one person is $125, but it's better than staying in some very so-so place in Fort Myers like I usually do! I notice there are more hotels in the gateway area than there were two years ago when I visited the area, which is good for those of us who love to go to Ding Darling wildlife refuge and other places on Sanibel. Anyway, I just thought I'd report that is IS possible to get something in gateway area at a halfway reasonable price. Who knows, maybe some day I'll get to stay on the island.....

dahammer Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Who knows, maybe some day I'll get to stay on the island..... if you go in June, rates will drop; you could rent a condo on the beach for $500-$1000. The Ding Darling wildlife refuge rents canoes, its a great way to see the park.
larry112 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Dear Roothy and other readers,Priceline also lists a 4 star hotel in the Sanibel "Gateway to the Islands" area. Do you or does anyone know what hotel they are referring to? We would love to visit the Ding Darling wildlfe refuge and take advantage of a Priceline deal.Larry
