Colfax Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 After a string of dreary Extended Stay Americas via Priceline one of my New Years resolutions for 2008 was to quit bidding 2* in zones that have them. It's only January and already I've been to one. I'm so weak. :) In my defense I was same day bidding while heavy wind and rainstorms socked Sacramento. Hundreds of thousands without power, fallen trees everywhere, streets closed from flooding. In the zones I would have bid---Downtown and South Natomas---some of the hotels are built directly behind levees and floodprone. I called Residence Inn University and a couple hotels in Rancho and confirmed that they had electricity, at least for the moment, and I bid just those zones.Failed bids:$55 2.5* University$46 2.5* Rancho Cordova$35 2* Rancho Cordova, and $36 accepted. This was actually a pretty good stay. Either I had quiet neighbors or the rooms next to me were vacant. I've had other rooms at this same hotel where you get to know your neighbors very well, like it or not.Bids were placed through SavingBarn.
