dahammer Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 started out checking with HOTWIRE first, saw a 2.5* in the Melville-Plainview zone for $99 with Boutique, Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Business, HS Internet, Golf, Tennis amenities. I was 99.9% sure that this was the Huntington Country Inn, which does a great job of roping folks into believing that this is some quaint inn when in fact its a run down former HoJo's. The tripadvisor ratings are aweful and I think the only positive ratings were posted by the owners. Started a Priceline bid at the 3* level at $80 and was rejected but added rebid zones and bid up to $91 when I received a counteroffer to increase my bid by the magic $22. I had two rebid zones left and increased the bid to $96, success!Your Offer Price $96.00 Taxes & Service Fees $18.91 Total Charges: $114.91 really happy with the results, I really didn't want to go out to Hauppauge or to hotels by the MacArthur airport, rack rate here is $260 plus tax. I need to turn on the charm and try and get an upgrade to concierge level. :) placed my bids through savingsbarn.com
