VanDoc Posted December 25, 2007 Report Posted December 25, 2007 I am having difficulty getting an accepted offer in this location (Jan. 11 - 15, 2008). I am considering changing the dates to just Jan 12 - 14 (weekend only) and hoping it offers the option for additional days. Any experience with this approach?
blindman Posted December 25, 2007 Report Posted December 25, 2007 There may be date(s) in your range that are high\full because of some event? What are the hotel rates for those dates? What are the HOTWIRE rates for thoe dates? HOTWIRE is usually a good indicator of what's available and at what rate (Priceline winning bids are usually lower).
VanDoc Posted December 25, 2007 Author Report Posted December 25, 2007 Hotwire rates are $246, but reflect a much smaller group of potential hotels (different locations included). But this is an excellent consideration.
Colfax Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 The 4* on HOTWIRE is a match for the Intercontinental. Hotwire only displays one hotel at each quality level within a zone, and that's the least expensive one. Since Intercontinental is $246 on Hotwire you can probably win a 4* in Priceline somewhere between $195 (what you've already bid) and $246. Priceline usually beats Hotwire in this zone. Of course the 4* you win on Priceline might not be the Intercontinental. You can probably get a lower total price by splitting your bid---Friday and Saturday together; then Sunday and Monday together. The Intercontinental is $225 your first two nights but $342 on Sunday and Monday. If you're willing to split I'd suggest bidding from $90 to $150 for Friday and Saturday. If you like what you get you then attempt Add a Night for Sunday and Monday. (No guarantee that your Add a Night request will be acepted though.)Would the Tower Beverly Hills Hotel work for you? That's the former Loew's and you can get your four nights there for $169 on Hotwire. It's the 3.5* hotel with six icons including "Boutique". If you go that route please use this HOTWIRE link, which helps maintain this board.
VanDoc Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 I have booked through EasyClickTravel Travel for $182 a night at the Intercontinental. I haven't used EasyClickTravel Travel previously, but understand that I can cancel this booking without penalty, so I will likely continue to see if I can get a better deal through Priceline. Nevertheless, I am at a meeting in Century City starting the morning of the 12th, so this is a solid option.
