My wife and I are planning on spending Thanksgiving in Paris, traveling via train from Frankfurt. Neither of us are familiar with the city so we will be doing the normal tourist stuff. We are looking for a 4* hotel. From reading previous posts it looks like we should be able to do that for around $100 US/night, but I wasn't sure where to start bidding. Since we don't know the city, we aren't picky on a specific area, but we would would like to be closer to the center of town. I was hoping for a recommendation for which zones to chose and a bidding strategy.

Cheers,

Steve

I'm not sure which zone(s) you're willing to bid this may be a bit optimistic for a 4* in a decent location.

Once you decide upon the zones you're willing to accept let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

I'd also figure out what the best-deal, acceptable option is before bidding. Just as a quick example, the Concorde Montparnasse (right across from the Le Meridien Montparnasse) has a prepaid rate of 124 Euros including tax for your dates. That equates to a bid of about $160 on Priceline (after taxes, fees and currency exchange are considered). The Concorde Montparnasse has never come up on Priceline to my knowledge, but I just wanted to mention it as a possible option. It's quite likely, given such rates, that you'll be able to do better on Priceline.
