I have lived in Orlando my whole life so if any one has any questions on best places to stay or areas just ask. I also can suggest restaurants, night life, and things to do with kids. Some of my favorite hotels in Orlando include Grand Cypress (the pool is amazing), Gaylord Palms, Marriot World Center, Sheraton Safari, Rosen Hotels, Peabody and all the Universal Hotels. For a budget hotel Id recommend any of the Hyatt places which many of my family stays at and I usually get it for them on hotwire. Also if you want a more quiet area with less tourist and traffic Id recommend staying in Altamonte Springs. The Hilton there is almost always on Hotwire. I have gotten is for $32 before. Its about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando, 30 minutes to Universal and 40 minutes to Disney. It is also 45 min from Daytona Beach. There are many excellent restaurants in the area and a great lake/park .5 miles away that
