WillTravel Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 Are you sure you want to bid that much?I took a look at HotelClub.net and saw deals like this one:Eden Hotel (a 3* and well-located in the Cannaregio district), with either a double or a twin, and breakfast included, for 60 Euros per night.
phani Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 You are correct, I think I might be able to get a 3* for a lower price. Can you recommend how much I need to bid to get a 4* in central venice. The median retail price in priceline is $338 for a 4* and $304 for 3*.My total budget for a 9 night stay in Europe is around 1K. In your opinion do you think I will find good accomodation for this budget. My Travel agent recommended the following for Venice. Are these any better than the Eden hotel you recommended?Kette- 3* - $175 per nightAlbergo All Angelo- 3* $175 per nightSan Julian- $175 per night (googled it but could not find the star rating)Rialto- (4* I think) $190 per nightThanks.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Can you recommend how much I need to bid to get a 4* in central venice. You should try to find the best deal you can thru the non-opaque services... then base your maximum bid as some percentage of that figure. Once you determine a maximum bid we will be in a better position to offer a bidding strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
WillTravel Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 With Priceline bidding, you give up a choice of location. If you stick to the Venice Island zone (and don't choose the mainland options), then I think your location will be OK, if not ideal. It's hard to compare those hotels, because I haven't stayed at them. I suggest looking at the reviews on TripAdvisor and on venere.com . Note that the star rating does not necessarily indicate how nice the hotel is.I did stay at this one a few years ago (a 3*):http://www.laforcolahotel.com/ - and I found a cheap rate for it through Octopustravel.com and I liked it very much . But it did have a quirky shower and bidet.
