Trying for one of the many hotels that come up in East Tucson, but got this new hotel in North Tucson instead. We started at 2.5* level, bidding $45 (East Tucson) and $50 (added La Paloma). Then started over at 3* level and bid $55 (East Tucson and North Tucson) and $65 (added La Paloma), still nothing. Then dropped to 2.5* level again (East, North and La Paloma) hoping for Courtyard in East Tucson, but got this new hotel. Might have been able to get it for less, but then there was no history of anyone getting a 2.5* in North Tucson. Hotel web site has rate of $90.

We are at this hotel now and it is very pleasant. The hotel seems to have been completely remodeled within the last year or two. The room has a refrigerator, microwave, and free wired high-speed internet access. There is a small restaurant with free breakfast and complimentary social hour in the afternoon, pool, hot tub, and outdoor grills for the use of the guests. Also, an outdoor laundry facility (?). The location in North Tucson is convenient to Wild Oats, Trader Joes, and the Metropolitan Grill (a fairly good restaurant we ate at this evening), all located on Oracle Road (same road as the hotel).

In fact, we like the hotel and Tucson so much that we decided to extend our stay by one night. Priceline offered to extend our stay for one night at the same rate ($65), but I thought I would try bidding for the room again to see if we could get it cheaper. We tried $45 (North Tucson only) and $55 (adding La Paloma), but no success, so we accepted Priceline's offer to extend one night for $65. I guess if we overpaid, it was not by much.
