Hotwire Hotel: Manhattan Hotel for Four Girls 11/15-11/18

Two women and two 12 yr. old girls going to Manhattan 11/15-11/18. Have been searching for a hotel around $300 or less that is decent for four females. Seems impossible! Don't want to have to stay in Hoboken or Brooklyn....

Hotwire has a 4* for $312 Midtown East. Seems like a good choice. Is it?

My concern is that the room won't have two beds, but I have read that I can call the hotel direct and ask for two beds after it's booked.

We will do the usual tourist things while we're there, so it seems like anywhere in Midtown, Central Park area, Times Square areas would be fine.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I don't think I did two adults/two children. I guess I thought it would be more expensive. :)

The 4* in Midtown East (I put in 2 adults only) for $312 has a fitness ctr., restaurant, high speed internet, tennis nearby, pool, business center.

A 3* hotel in Midtown Central for $327 for 2 adults/2 children has a fitness ctr., pool, restaurant and high speed internet available.

We can't afford two rooms at these prices and I would prefer going in November (when the girls can see xmas decorations and possibly snow) and not waiting til mid-January when prices are cheaper.

I think your strategy is risky. Rooms in Manhattan are small, if you search for two adults, the hotel is obligated to provide sleeping accomodations for two, which could be a double bed. You can ask for a room with two beds, but suppose the property is sold out and they cannot accomodate your request?

Sometimes it's the same price, sometimes it's a bit more, but it does guarantee that you'll have enough sleeping accomodations for all four of you.

The 4* is a match for the Millennium UN and the 3* is a match for the Holiday Inn Midtown, so that would be our best guess for each.

I'll add that while you said you didn't want to stay in NJ, i think you could get a room in Jersey City with easy access to Manhattan for less than half the price you're looking at above.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

If you head to the link below:

Westin Stay 2 nights, get 1 free

And search for New York City for 11/15-18, you will see a list of available NYC hotels, one of which is the Westin Times Square. Click to select that and indicate 2 adults (you do not have to indicate children.) A list of available rooms should come up, and all will say that the third night is free (this is a "Stay 2 nights, get 1 free" promotion, and is non-refundable.)

One of the options should be:

2 Double Beds Deluxe City View Non-Smoking, Heavenly Bed And Bath, High Floor Between 23-45, 32 Inch Flat Panel Lcd Tv, Ipod Clock Radio

For $469 a night, but the third night is free. So, a total of $938 - divided by 3 nights = $312 and change per night average. non-refundable.

Plus, you would get 2 beds, you are booking directly through the hotel's website & would know which hotel you're getting (and it's a nice one) and would get upgraded accomidations (a view room.)

I think this would be a great deal for the situation.

Just wanted to let you know what we decided on.....because the 2 beds were not guaranteed thru Hotwire, we went ahead and booked the New York Helmsley. Hopefully we will not be disappointed! Looks like it's in a good/central location.

thank you for your help and I will continue to peruse this site in the future!
