Hi all,

Does anyone know what is happening in philly during the 9/28 - 9/30 weekend?

Many hotels are booked and had many failed bids all the way up to $140 for 2.5 * downtown philly. :)

Any conferences or festivals?

Thanks!

no conventions, it seems that the center city area is expensive, but deals are available around the airport :) I don't think it because the Phillies are playing the Nationals that weekend either.....

Ah, good to know about your bids. No wonder my $115 bid for a 3* went no where. Normally I stay in a 3* for $45-60 too. The only thing I see going on is the end of the King Tut exhibit - but not sure that would draw this huge crowd

I am only looking for Saturday night the 29th, with a flight out Sunday morning I'm focusing on the PHL airport zone. When I bid $60 for 3* in that zone I get a $17 counteroffer, leading me to suspect that rooms are available in the low $70 range. There is a convenient train to downtown from the airport. Not as convenient as being there already, but....

Edited to add: I just took my own advice and bid $70 -- got the Airport Marriott for the night of the 29th. Very convenient to the train, and I'll just walk across the bridge to the terminal to catch my flight in the morning. I'll report the win in a new thread.

the R1 train operates between the airport and center city every half hour and the cheapest round trip fair if purchased in advance is $11.75; if you have a car, check out the Philadelphia Parking Authority, many lots offer discounts on weekends.
