There MUST be something big going on over the course of these two days in Toronto. Nothing was to be had at any of the 4 or 3 star properties downtown up to $100, and it took $85.00 to get an airport hotel. Wow! Still a good deal, as the cheapest rate was $225 per night on the website.

The biggest thing of the year is the TIFF and this is it. Check and you'll see that the downtown hotels are fully booked. Before bidding it's a good idea to check around to see if there are vacancies. You did well with BP.

I got the Sheraton Center Downtown Toronto, one night on the Sunday the 16 of September for $74?? Maybe mine was more last minute, booked about 48 hours in advance??

Nope... your dates (9/16-9/17) are different than those above (9/16-9/18). What does one nite difference make... the Sheraton is sold-out for the nite of 9/17, making it almost a 'no chance' for the 2 nite stay above.
