Rich A. Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I'm planning on a trip to Paris in October and was looking for a little help on how to bid for the Novotel Hotel. Looks like it is in a great location, as I was looking for a hotel real close to the Louvre, and a good place to stay. Any help would really be appreciated..THANKS
thereuare Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel.Start here: I'VE NEVER USED PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and feel free to ask any questions you may have.If you'd still like to proceed with an opaque purchase let us know if the Opera Quarter East-Les Halles zone is the only one you're willing to accept, your maximum bid, and the actual date(s) of your stay... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Rich A. Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 Looked through and understand that it is an opaque bid. However, I was just looking to see how to possibly increase the chance of winning that hotel in the bidding process......Anyway... The OQE looks like a good location. I was planing my vacation time in Paris from the 10/6-10/11 of October and am looking to spend between $100 and $150 dollars. From looking at other posts that amount should get me somewhere around a 3 or 4 star hotel. Thanks for your help
WillTravel Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I hope that will be enough, but keep in mind that October is a really busy and expensive month in Paris due to various conventions and fairs that can totally book up the city. If you haven't done so already, I would suggest you book a cancellable backup hotel before you start bidding.
thereuare Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 There is no way to target the Novotel on priceline, if you'd like to try to target a specific hotel, or avoid a particular hotel, HOTWIRE may be a better option.Thru Priceline, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3* or are you really looking for the least expenisve 3* or better hotel for your dates? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Rich A. Posted September 6, 2007 Author Report Posted September 6, 2007 Through Priceline I am willing to pay more for a 4* vrs a 3*
thereuare Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 At the 4* level you have one re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I'd try as follows:Select 4* Opera Quarter East...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110.If that is rejected and you want to continue trying for a 4* before trying for a 3*, wait 24 hours:Select 4* Opera Quarter East...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120.From there re-try every 24 hours and increase each bid by $5. This should have you up to $150 within a week, leaving you enough time to try for a 3 star.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes... keep us updated.
