Priceline Hotel: 2.5* NYC MTE help

Hi,

I'm looking for a 2.5* 6/30-7/5 MTE.

Have you heard of any other 2.5* hotels popping up besides the Courtyard Marriott?

What do you think a good bidding strategy would be?

It's the only 2.5* in that zone that we know of. As well, new hotels can be added, upgraded, or downgraded at anytime... you could also bid for 2.5* and get upgraded (thus not getting the Courtyard even if it's the only 2.5* in the zone).

This may be tough due to the holiday and that you have no PRICELINE RE-BID zones available at the 2.5* level.

I would recommend you start by trying $65 for 2.5* MTE as this seems to be a commonly accepted bid at the Courtyard.

Let us know how it goes.

If not successful, you may also want to consider SPLITTING YOUR BID.

What is your maximum budget? Since we only know of one 2.5* hotel in this zone adding 3* and 4* as possibilities (for not too much more) opens up many more possibilities and increases your chances of success.

I gave it a shot at $65 but PL didn't accept the bid, so I'll try $70 in 72 hrs.

If that doesn't fly I'll probably try a 4* bid starting at $100.

You certainly have time to try the above, but i don't think you'll likely be successful at this point given the prices i'm seeing.

What is your back-up plan and what price?

Well, tried $75 tonight, and I was rejected.

I'll try $85 next.

The backup plan is cramming 4 people in a suite for $230 at the Doubletree Guest Suites.

I was hoping to find something cheaper(and have two rooms instead.)

I would suggest replicating the bid that I just did for your dates:

6/30-7/5

3* (do not do 2.5*)

Midtown East + Upeer West Side (this way it is a new bid)

$83

It is still coming up $111 through Hotwire for the 3.5* (see my bid for details), so I think this would work and you'll get the Marriott.
