optimas Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Hi everyone, I am looking at booking my first hotel on Priceline, and found this excellent website! It has been very helpful, I have read the tips for new users, and for Canadian users. I would like to book a hotel from Nov 8-11 in LA, and we had planned to stay in the Hollywood area. The most recent posts I see that have tried Hollywood all seem to have gotten the Roosevelt. Would definately be happy if I get that, as I cannot afford it otherwise. However, one recent post says they have it when booking a 4star, another got it at a 3star booking. I would probably like to start the bidding around $130 (is that too high or low to start?). Should I just try the 4stars with that price first? Anyone have ideas on other 4stars included on Priceline in that area? Is there a better chance of getting nicer hotels if you try more in advance or more last minute? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm guessing the last report of the Roosevelt at the 3* level is a user that was upgraded on their 3* bid to a 4* hotel, but didn't report it as such in their post... i just doublechecked and as far as i can tell i'm almost certain the Roosevelt is still rated 4 stars. You can see all hotels reported to the board in this area in our Priceline Hotel List.Let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. optimas Posted August 18, 2007 Author Report Posted August 18, 2007 I guess my max bid would probably be around $160, but if I didn't get anything with that I could see myself ending up going even higher!
Colfax Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 The Roosevelt and Renaissance have both been reported as 4* in Hollywood zone.Roosevelt is $249 for your dates and Renaissance is sold out for one of your three nights, so you probably won't win it on Priceline.Do you understand how free rebidding works? You have five free rebid zones for 4* in Hollywood. Please state the five zones and someone will offer a bidding strategy. If you don't understand free rebidding let us know and we'll point you to the necessary info.
thereuare Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 I'd try as follows, using your 5 re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Hollywood...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Hollywood and re-bid zone4...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Hollywood and re-bid zone5...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Hollywood and re-bid zone4 and re-bid zone5...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $140.Given the amount of time before your stay i think i would stop here as you have plenty of time to try again.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
