Priceline Hotel: 4* On The Strip?

I'm on a per diem from the wonderful state government of VA and was wondering how I could stretch every last dollar. Is it even worth trying for a spot on the strip for $120?

I'm traveling Mon-Fri 8/13 to 8/17. This is my first time to Vegas...too bad it's for work!

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can try for a 4*, but if you're really trying to stretch your money you may be able to "get by" with a 3 star property. What exactly are you looking for from this stay? how much time will you be spending in the room in the evening? Will you be using the pool and other facilities?

I could think of much worse places!!

Will you have a car? Does this per diem include meals? Is your limit $120 including taxes? Because a bid of $120 could result in taxes and fees of $25 or more.

To answer both questions, I wanted a 4* "just because" and I wanted it to be on the strip for purely hedonistic reasons! I've never been before so I thought I should go all out!! :)

I may or may not have a car. That's up to me. I was thinking of staying somewhere with a monorail stop so maybe I wouldn't need one, plus i hear that there are taxis everywhere. I'll leave the hotel at 7:30 to get to an office that's no more than 2 or 3 miles from the strip. Hang out there until 5 then head back to the hotel. After that is anyone's guess.

I have an extra budget for meals. And the taxes shouldn't be an issue.

I've found some good (non bid) rates at Luxor, The Hilton, and TI. If you guys had to pick, what one would you go for? Or should I try priceline?

Thanks!

Of those properties Treasure Island is the clear winner (imo). I did a search for your dates and showend $139/nite for your nites, which i think is pretty competitive to what you might get if you did decide to bid. For example, you mentioned $120 above... add to that priceline's fee of approximately $7/nite and you're looking at a $12 difference between bidding for an unknown 4* hotel in the zone or choosing the hotel and being able to make any special requests. I'd need to save more than $12 on a $100+ hotel room to book thru the opaque suppliers. Of course you could try a lower bid and maybe it would be worthwhile, but i like this part of the strip best and if you're showing $139 for Treasure Island i think that's a good deal.

The Hilton isn't directly on the strip, and the Luxor is too far South for my tastes (i didn't check prices, but it would need to be about $40-$50 cheaper than the TI to have me consider it).

If you do want to bid for this stay, and lower your maximum bid amount, let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Please also note that we are affiliates of all three of the hotels you've mentioned above, please use the links in this post, the post above it, or our support page to begin any hotel direct purchases of these properties.

Luxor was 117.50 avg/night and Hard Rock was 120. It sounds like I'd be wise to eat the extra $19/night myself and stay at TI. With it being so close to my target price, I think I'll just book it there if you recommend it over the other two options. I like knowing where I'll be staying. It doesn't sound like the PL savings would be dramatic enough to warrant the risk.

So thanks!
