Hotwire Hotel: Bidding help: SF; 4/9

I already have a room booked at the Clift for a one night stay (Friday 4/9) for $195...locked it directly from the Clift's website. I know that this hotel and the Pan Pacific carry identical amenity items (in the San Francisco (Downtown - Union Square West) zone) so here's my question. Right now, there's a 4.5 * available that night for $129 in the Union Square West zone...and yes, I still don't know if its the Clift or Pan Pacific. I then did a vacation package search and the Clift is one the hotels that pops up in my search and the Pan Pacific does not. Is it safe to assume that this hotel (for $129) is the Clift and not the Pan Pacific? This might be comparing apples to oranges b/c I bidding for a single night with my regular search but the package searches are 2 night minimums but can anyone shed some light here??

Theres a good chance it is but you better be ready to stay at the pan pacific or any other hotel that could come up!It all comes down to how bad you want the clift and the risk your willing to take for $65.Its never 100%

You can book the pan pacific on their site for $149,so if its the pan you wont save much.

Not all hotels participate in the VP product... so if only the Clift participates in the VP but both have availability in the opaque hotel product, you'll get whichever one offers a lower rate.

Both hotels do participate in the hotel packages.I found them both when looking for my dates in july.

Then i think the chances of the CLIFT have increased :)

Of course one hotel could have dropped out of the VP program since then, but the odds have now increased.

I should have said that I found them both in the vacation packages today.

thanks for the replies folks...i think i'll stay put as we would prefer the clift. when i checked VPs yesterday at the time of my post, only the clift was on there but apparently both are today.
