Threepwood Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Hi, I'm new around here and I could use some help bidding for a room on the dates mentioned. The budget is about $100 +/- $15. Ideally, I'd prefer something on the North, Central or South sections of the strip. I bid at priceline for $75, $85 and $90. Got rejected on all 3 bids, counter offered $150 each time. Total after taxes for 2 nights would be $340. I'm trying to get in under $250 after taxes. I will of course have to add in an extra $20 for the front-desk trick I hear so much about! If I don't get something within my price range, I'll start talking to the Hilton Grand Vacations people. I got a deal in my email that gives me a room for $99 a night PLUS 15,000 Hilton points (or $100 in gaming chips or $100 "entertainment certificate"). Only catch is, I have to attend a 2 hour "sales presentation" because its a whole timeshare thing. Have you guys heard of this? Any help is appreciated!
thereuare Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is the Westin, slightly off the strip but still in priceline's strip zone, an acceptable outcome? dahammer Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Only catch is, I have to attend a 2 hour "sales presentation" because its a whole timeshare thingif the location of the Hilton Vacation Club is acceptable (is this near the Las Vegas Hilton?) and you are willing to give up 2 hours of your time during a 2 day trip, this should be fine. Its been awhile since I've attended a time share presentation, but to me its a waste of a precious vacation time.
Threepwood Posted August 13, 2007 Author Report Posted August 13, 2007 Yes, the Westin is acceptable.
thereuare Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 And i've yet to hear of a 2 hour timeshare presentation take two hours! :)If you want to try bidding i would suggest as follows:At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them). If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* South Strip...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North Strip...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* North and South Strip...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115.Any questions feel free to ask.
