Just won a great price on a $69 hotel room at the Chancellor Hotel in downtown SF. However, I later learned that they do not have 2 bed rooms, and it will require that I pruchase another room for our kids. Is there any way to sell this room online to someone that could use it?

Thanks,

Mike Jensen

Welcome to BetterBidding!

As per our RULES:

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

So please post the details of your win (star rating, zone, dates, winning bid amount, bidding history if any, etc)... we'll then move this thread to the San Francisco section of the board and reply to your question(s) there.

Thank you for sharing the additional information regarding your stay.

Unfortunately for your situation Priceline reservations are non-changable, non-refundable, and non-tranferable.

However, while the hotel may not have 2 bedded rooms, depending upon the age of your children i would call them first (call the front desk directly, not the 800 number) and ask them if they have rollaway beds and/or any rooms with a pullout couch. If youre children are young (ie- small) enough maybe they could both sleep on one rollaway bed or on a pullout couch? If they're older, i'd also ask the front desk if any rooms could accomodate 2 rollaway beds (and if this is allowed... given that no hotel rooms show on the hotel website for quad occupancy (does show for triple occupancy) it may violate their fire code... but if one child is very young (under 3?) you may be able to 'push' it a bit)

If all the above fails you could consider trying Priceline to see if they'll have a sympathetic ear... they may consider cancelling your reservation (hit or miss), but if they do, it would also likely come with a $25 cancellation penalty, so not sure if that would be worthwhile for you on a $69 purchase, given you'd still need to purchase an additional room(s).

Keep in mind also that while priceline only guarantees double occupancy, HOTWIRE enables you to search for up to quad occupancy, so that may be a better option in the future when you're family is traveling together.

Good Luck and let us know what you decide to do and how it goes.

Even if you have to pay $69 for a second room at the Chancellor wouldn't the total cost be less than the cost of purchasing a room with two beds someplace else plus the $69 you've already spent on Priceline? The Chancellor is a terrific location and gets pretty good reviews for a hotel in its class.

You didn't mention the age of your children so i'll just assume that they're "old enough" to not pass as todlers/infants.

Not sure if an option or not, but would you consider bidding for the 2nd room? :)

If you get a different hotel, or the hotel won't make the two rooms connecting, you and your spouse can split up with a kid each. If you're $69 bid is once again accepted you're looking at about $75 vs. $109... so it comes down to if $35 is worth the risk of splitting up the family for the nite.
