big1bal Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Hi everyoneI'm a newbie to the whole priceline thing and having spent the last few hours reading all the FAQ's etc and now I need some help before I bid. There are 5 of us guys travelling and need hopefully 2 rooms at 3* or above in and around hollywood or downtown LA.What do you think would be a good price, we want to pay no more then $125 a night per room if possiblethanks :)
Colfax Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, which could mean one double bed in a room. Unless three of you are willing to share one bed bidding on Priceline, even for two rooms, could be risky.HOTWIRE might be a better option. If you input "2 rooms and 5 adults" you're guaranteed at least one room will have two beds. If you input "2 rooms and 6 adults" you're guaranteed both rooms will have two beds. Even then with five adults and four beds two will still have to share. Downtown zone is generally less expensive than Hollywood. Depending on your dates $125 might be enough for Hollywood though.
thereuare Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! As per Colfax's post, is Priceline something you're comfortable with (given the occupancy issue) or would you prefer to go with HOTWIRE? Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? What is the minimum star rating you're willing to accept? big1bal Posted June 21, 2007 Author Report Posted June 21, 2007 Hi thanks for the repliesI think hotwire seems to be the better choice for us, we would like a 3* if possible but are prepared for a 2* if needs must. LA is just our first stop once we've found a hotel we need to do it all again for Las Vegas and then for San Francisco. If Priceline only have one bed it won't really help us for any of the destinations. We have hired a minivan so don't have to be central but thought it would be helpful as we've never done the west coast before. Is there anything I should bear in mind for HOTWIRE?thanks again
Colfax Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Will two rooms with two beds in each work for your party of five?
thereuare Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 ... and which HOTWIRE zones within Los Angeles are you willing to stay?If you do a current HOTWIRE search (for 2 rooms, 5 adults (or whatever combination of kids/adults you are) does anything come up within your price range? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
