mustangmonica Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Hi there,I just placed a bid but failed :)I started my bid at the 3* level in the Santa Rosa/Rohnert Park area. Which is where I actually want to stay. First bid was $65. Rejected For some reason the 4* gray out so I wasn't able to use as a re-bid.Second bid was$70. Added Fairfield area. RejectedThird bid was $75. Added Napa area. RejectedFourth bid was $80. Added Sonoma area. Rejected. I tried closing the browser but I was done with all of my rebids at this time. I know it's summer so perhaps I am just being too conservative on my bids.Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks,Monica
thereuare Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 There is 4* bidding available in (Santa Rosa - Rohnert Park - Petaluma)What is your maximum bid for a 4* property? If that's not successful would you then want to try for a 3*? If so, what is your maximum bid for a 3 star (if different than for a 4*) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mustangmonica Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 I think my max bid for a 3* is $100 and $150 for a 4*Is that reasonable for July?
thereuare Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Do you prefer to try up to your maximum bid for a 4* property before try for a 3* property? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mustangmonica Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 Ok I just tried bidding for a 4* and bid as follows:Chose 4*, Santa Rosa $95 rejectedAdded Fairfield, $100 rejectedAdded Napa, $105 rejectedAdded Sonoma, $110 rejectedAdded 3*, $100 rejectedLike I said, I am willing to pay up to $150 and I started at the low end. How long do I have to wait before I bid again?
mustangmonica Posted June 15, 2007 Author Report Posted June 15, 2007 Had my husband try...Chose 4*, Santa Rosa $115 rejectedAdded Fairfield, $120 rejectedAdded Napa, $125 rejectedAdded Sonoma, $130 rejectedAdded 3*, $115 rejectedBummer :) I guess I'll just keep trying.
thereuare Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 There is only one 4* hotel that has been reported in this zone, and their direct rates for these dates is $300+, so this may be a very difficult win. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Colfax Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Your dates are a Fri/Sat/Sun during peak season. Fri/Sat may be especially tough, or impossible. You have a better chance to win Sunday night alone, if you're willing to stay at two different hotels.
BEAV Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Ever since Hyatt purchased the Vineyard Creek Hotel (4* Santa Rosa) back in 2003, there has been a fairly distinctive pattern where we rarely (if ever) see reported wins for this hotel during July, August and September. I've tried myself on a number of occasions during these months (in past years) and I've always struck out -or- Priceline came back with very high counteroffers near $200. I looked at HOTWIRE for your dates to try and gauge what their pricing was for this property, however it's not coming up at all. So I think it's safe to say it's going to take a bid higher than you might be willing to pay for 4 stars in this zone to be successful. That is if the hotel has even released inventory to Priceline at all. Good luck! All it takes is patience and more money! :)
mustangmonica Posted January 30, 2008 Author Report Posted January 30, 2008 Thanks for your help. This trip didn't pan out either.
