I am looking for a 4 star hotel on the Strip for the nights of July 20th and 21st. Maximum bid around $150-200 a night. Also, I am going with a group of 12-15 if this makes a difference.

I am looking for a hotel on the strip for the nights of July 21st and 22nd. I know that with Priceline you can negotiate with the hotel if you need two beds. Is this the case with Hotwire since you can enter up to four people. My reason for asking this is that I can put in two people and get a four star hotel in central strip for $199. However, if I put that I have four people for a room, my only choice is a five star for around $290 a night. I definitely need four people to a room since I am going with about 10-15 other people.

Thanks for the help.

You can call a priceline hotel after your purchase and put in a request for 2 beds, but this is just a request and may not be able to be met... all that is guaranteed thru priceline is a room that will accomodate double occupancy. HOTWIRE gives you the ability to guarantee sleeping accomodations for everyone in your party. Some take the risk and use priceline for more than double occupancy, but this is a risk only you (and the ohters in your group) need to decide if you are willing to take that risk. You can also accept this same risk by only searching for double occupancy with HOTWIRE.

One 'issue' is that many Vegas hotels now charge extra for more than double occupancy ($15-$30/per person per day) so claiming quadruple occupancy can easily add $60 on to the base room rate for a given nite! :)

I would talk to the others in your group and determine what level of risk you're willing to take, that information along with your maximum budget will put us in a better position to advise you on this stay.

The hotel above is a match for Planet Hollywood, Paris, and Caesars, so either of those would be our best guess. However, Planet Hollywod (previously the Aladdin) appears more so than the other two (which rarely appear), so Planet Hollywood would be the best guess among the best guesses :)

Do you think I could get a better deal with Priceline? If so, what hotel usually comes up when someone wins a bid on Priceline, or does it vary? Also, I've seen the list of 4 star hotels used by Priceline. Does the winning bid usually get you whichever hotel has the cheapest rate for that day?

Thanks.

You can't target a specific hotel with priceline... nothing comes up "the most" enough to make an educated guess as to what you might get.

Are you comfortable with the Westin? As that hotel is not directly on the strip, but is included in priceline's "Strip" zone.

At the 4* level you have two re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Strip...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $110, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.

Select 4* Strip and re-bid zone2...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $125.

If the above is rejected don't get discouraged as this is part of a bigger plan, just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Sorry that it has taken so long to reply. We've been working on how many people are going in our group. I think we may have found a condo on eBay that will fit our budget well. The place is the Fairfield Grand Desert. First of all, has anyone ever purchased lodging on eBay? Is it safe and dependable? Second, has anyone heard of this resort, or stayed there? Just looking for some opinions on the place. Finally, is there an eBay link I can use from this site to support it.

Thanks for all of your help.

The reviews look very good... although i would try to find out just how far it is from the strip (one preson mentioned a 5 minute walk or a $7 cab ride... which doesn't seem possible). Ideally you want to be, and pay a premium for, being directly on the strip... but if the savings are enough then perhaps the trade-off is worth it. I wouldn't be sold on the benefits of having a kitchen like i would in another area, since in Vegas i wouldn't be cooking with all the good restaurants and other inexpensive eating options. It really comes down to location and if you want to be off the strip.

As far as Ebay (no link currently but thanks for asking) you need to use your judgement and read the reviews of the seller... most people are honest (at least i like to think so), but there always some that try to skirt the system.
