Tburr Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 I have been trying to find a 3 or 4 * hotel in any part of London for July. I have bid $125.00 and not found anything. I have never seen rates so high. Is anyone having luck with July in London? Thanks
WillTravel Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 What are your dates? Did you try Hotwire?I think that rates are pretty high - because of the exchange rate, and also because so many people have caught on to what a great deal Priceline is for London.
Tburr Posted May 16, 2007 Author Report Posted May 16, 2007 I am looking for July 5-7, I have a Hotwire reservation for July 7-9 for $120.00 at the London Crowne Plaza. But the same hotel for July 5-7 with Hotwire is $235.00.
thereuare Posted May 16, 2007 Report Posted May 16, 2007 If you search the Crowne Plaza website you'll seee that rates for 7/5-7/7 are 50GBP (that's nearly $100US :) ) higher for those dates than your previous win at 7/7-7/9... which incidentally is about the differene you're seeing in the HOTWIRE rate.As well, if you search the Crowne Plaza individually for 7/7 and 7/8, the hotel shows sold-out, further evidence that demand is much higher for these two nites than your already booked dates. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
milehigh Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 The Tour de France is starting in London this year - there are events July 6,7 & 8. This is probably a big part of why rates are so high. I've heard estimates of a million+ spectators on the race days.
