avgjoe Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 I think i've identified two possible hotels during my stay - the paramount and the hudson. Has anywone stayed at both? Are they comparable? Can anyone recommend one or the other?I was thinking that the Hudson might be a bit more quieter as it's away from Times square, but it seems as though there's easy access to the subway. That might be better than being at the Paramount where I'd have to walk through crowds and it's likely to be ouder as well.Any suggestions.Thanks.Avgjoe
dahammer Posted May 10, 2007 Report Posted May 10, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding! What are your dates of travel and the rates of these two properties?
AaronJB Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 The Hudson has incredibly small rooms, as you can see here in a video tour of one of the rooms:
avgjoe Posted May 11, 2007 Author Report Posted May 11, 2007 Yeah, I've seen that video. But from what i heard, the Paramount is no better.Joe.
AaronJB Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 For 8/4- check out 8/6The Paramount is $205 on Expedia, the Hudson's about $245.I'm seeing the Michelangelo for $217. That gets far better reviews (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60763-d93589-Reviews-The_Michelangelo-New_York_City_New_York.html) and has larger rooms than either the Hud or Par. You also get: "A day at the Michelangelo begins with a complimentary Buon Di breakfast, featuring espresso, cappuccino, tea, and Italian pastries."The Michelangelo seems like a better deal to me than either.
thereuare Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Is this a one nite stay or two?I assume you have identified the hotels via HOTWIRE? If so, what are the prices? If you're looking at $200/nite i think there is much better than the above:Beekman Tower for $175/niteFitzpatrick Manhattan for $202/niteFitzpatcick Grand Central for $202/niteParmount for $206/nite (but unlike Expedia above, no booking for cancellation fee) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
avgjoe Posted May 12, 2007 Author Report Posted May 12, 2007 A one night stay, but possibly two.I saw it on Hotwire. Paramount $119/nightHudson $134/nightBoth well below the other properties around $200/night.Any comments?Thanks.Joe.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 I would book the Beekman Tower as a back-up as i think you'll likely see similar prices (as you're currently seeing on HOTWIRE) for a 4* in the weeks ahead. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
avgjoe Posted May 14, 2007 Author Report Posted May 14, 2007 Thanks.I'll reserve the Beekman and keep checking Hotwire over the next few weeks for dropping prices for 4stars hotels. When i'm ready, i'll book through the savingsbarn websitejoe.
Aisling Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 I've stayed at BOTH!Yes, they are both small but I'd choose The Hudson over The Paramount any day. The rooms are much sleeker and slightly cleaner. The bed slightly more comfortable. The room I was given was on the top floor (with the master suites) but yet was still a single room. Therefore I believe it was much more quiet and had a better view. I also prefer the Upper West Side.Plus... The Paramount has HUGE Renaaissance paintings in thier tiny rooms and I admit I was a little freaked out by The Girl With the Pearl Earring staring at me while in the bathroom. Good luck!
