thereuare Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Rates at the Inter-Continental are very high for your dates... just how high are you willing to go? At what point to you lower your star rating? mcremata Posted May 4, 2007 Author Report Posted May 4, 2007 It didn't come cheap, but finally got a 5* in Rome for $340. Here's the info:Grand Hotel De La Minerve Roma Piazza Della Minerva 69 Rome, Italy Check-In Date: Wednesday, June 13, 2007 Check-Out Date: Saturday, June 17, 2007 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$340.00 Started at $200 and added each free rebid zone. Increasing bid $25 each time. At $250 I received a counter offer at $376. I continued to increase and ran out of re-bids at $325. I went back (through savingsbarn.com) and changed my date by one day and rebid again. $$330 rejected. $335 rejected. $340 accepted.I exercised the option and added a date after the bid was won. Anyone stayed here?
thereuare Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 Congratulations on your win.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for helping us add this property to the Priceline Hotel List.I liked your technique of changing the dates and then using the 'add a nite' feature (although this could have been risky if no availability for the additional nite of your stay). Here is a technique that you can use in the future when you think you may need the extra re-bids (using the four re-bids you had in Rome):RomeRome + Re-bid zone1Rome + Re-bid zone2Rome + Re-bid zone3Rome + Re-bid zone4Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone2Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone3Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone4Rome + Re-bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone3Rome + Re-bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone4Rome + Re-bid zone3 + Re-Bid zone4Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone3Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone4Rome + Re-Bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone3 + Re-Bid zone4Rome + Re-bid zone1 + Re-Bid zone2 + Re-Bid zone3 + Re-Bid zone4Thanks for using the SB links to begin your bidding.Enjoy this leg of your trip :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
WillTravel Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 I haven't stayed there, but that is the most perfect location, right in the center. It's right near this beautiful church:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria_sopra_MinervaI hope you'll report back. I think you did very well, because hotels in Rome are so expensive.
