WillTravel Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I looked at the hotel list and saw I hadn't posted this bid from ages ago, and I think it would still be a helpful addition to the list. Sorry for the delay!http://www.mermaid-hotel.dkI won the first part of the bid, July 1-4, 2003 at almost the last minute before our departure to Europe (maybe a day or two before). I had a backup reserved for the remaining days in Copenhagen that was perhaps okay, but rather crummy and not central, and also quite expensive for what little it offered. We first went to London and Aarhus, and I tried to bid in Aarhus at an Internet cafe for the next set of days, but that bid failed. We arrived in Copenhagen and settled into the hotel. Finally, on July 3 in the morning, I went to an Internet cafe and won the days July 4-7, and I canceled our backup reservation. Prior to this, I had been bidding for months without success.I don't recall the exact amounts now, except that the second bid was almost certainly too much, as it was so last minute. When we checked out, I found the total Priceline price per night was 450 DKK. The clerk got mixed up with the two-bid situation, although I had tried to explain it at the time, and tried to charge me. It was straightened out after about 15 minutes. Divide the 450 DKK by 1.25 (since VAT in Denmark is 25%), and convert to dollars, and I believe that was the amount I should have bid. Review to follow shortly.
