dahammer Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 1. The Rio is the only 4* West of Strip (or "near strip west" on Hotwire).its the only reported hotel; you should see a Suite amenity icon for this listing2. On Priceline I run the risk of ending up with Hampton Inn Tropicana if I bid on 2* W. of Strip (is this true? I only see one post about Hampton from 2004) but on Hotwire I can isolate ESVV by the amenities listed.there is not a lot of bidding history at the 2* level and its possible that there are other hotels besides the Hampton Inn that participate with Priceline, so HOTWIRE might be the best route.3. I'm not likely to get much lower than $159/weeknight bidding on the Venetian.a lot depends on the "rack rate" for your dates of travel. Some folks have recently reported wins as low as $129, but if the rack rate is $299 it might require a higher bid. Note that the Wynn or Bellagio could also come up, but this is rare.4. ESVV is about as convenient to the Rio as is the Gold Coast. In general any info about ESVV would be appreciated.I might check out a Tripadvisor for information about this. Generally speaking, I'm not a fan the Extended Stay hotels. That said, if travelling alone to Vegas, I could tollerate an ESA property and save a few bucks that could be better used to hone my poker skills on a few unsuspecting backwards-hat wearing twenty-something know-it-alls. :) 5. Hotwire is a good way to go for ESVV
thehuges Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 Well, this thread is a little long in the tooth, but just to close it out ... friends of mine found a rental house in Vegas for the duration of the WSOP, so I stayed there and did not need to find a hotel.
