mikestan Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Hi,back again this time for a vegas bid and looking for some advice.I am thinking of starting the bid at $105, then working my way up via the re-bids? Just wonderingif this is a good starting point and what my re-bid increase amounts should be. Willing to go up to $200a night for a 5 star on the strip.Any possibility I could get something other than the Venetian if I raised my starting bid, such as Bellagio orWynn? Thanks in advance,-Mp.s. I can use all other areas for re-bids since they don't have 5 star places correct?
mikestan Posted April 21, 2007 Author Report Posted April 21, 2007 Just tried bidding and was unsuccessful:1st bid $105, 5* Strip2nd $110, 5* Airport3rd 115, 5* West Strip4th $125, 5* Convention Ctr.5th $135, 5* Fremont St.I wouldn't let me use Boulder Strip as a re-bid, and I wasn't sure if Summerlin, Nelis or Henderson have any5 star places since they're not listed in the hotel list here: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=85&Anyway, looking for some advice on a new approach.
dahammer Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 The Venetian is available from EasyClickTravel Travel as an "Off The Record" property at a rate of $340 per night, so its unlikely that even $200 will be enough. So far, the Venetian is the only reported 5* property.I wouldn't let me use Boulder Strip as a re-bid, and I wasn't sure if Summerlin, Nelis or Henderson have any 5 star places since they're not listed in the hotel list here: http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=85&this is not the way to check rebid areas or to determine there is a resort in a specific zone. You have to Check each box individually on the Priceline site.
mikestan Posted April 21, 2007 Author Report Posted April 21, 2007 Just tried again and went up from $150 - $220 with my re-bids and still no luck. Not sure that I want to go any higher than that...any idea what kinda 4* place I could get and in what $ range? Thanks,Mike
dahammer Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 check out our Priceline list of reported wins and you will see that the Westin often comes up at the 4* level. This property is not directly on the Strip, but it is still in the Strip zone as defined by Priceline. As long as you are OK with the possibility of winning this property then commence bidding. Using EasyClickTravel Travel Search it appears that the 4* Aladdin Planet Hollywood is available for $211. Use the Reverse EasyClickTravel Travel tool above to confirm. Finally, using Cheap Tickets (link may be found above in the Travel Links to Help Support BetterBidding) you will find that the 4* Treasure Island is available for $252, or the 3* Imperial Palace is available for $178, both with great locations on the strip. Good luck and please use the links found here as it supports this board. :)
mikestan Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 Tried the 5* bid again and went all the way up to $250 with no luck! Can you suggest a bidding strategy for the 4* range? Also, does my initial bid have any affect in whatproperty I may get? Meaning, if I start out a little higher than what might win for the Westin, could I possibly avoid that property and get one of the other 4* that are on the strip itself?Thanks,-Mike
mikestan Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 Hi,I already posted over in the priceline area as I was trying for a 5* and tried bidding 3 times, all the way upto $250 with no luck. Was considering a 4* over there, but not guaranteed on strip due to the Westin. Can someone suggest wha the 4* on Hotwire at $291 might be? [casino,gym,pool,food,inet,golf,tennis]Thanks,-Mike
dahammer Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Also, does my initial bid have any affect in what property I may get?No, you should never bid higher for a specific property.Which zone is the HOTWIRE property located?
