Began with $60.00 bid which was rejected. Rebid $67.00 with free rebid area. Accepted.

I know that it has been the theory from this board that one cannot get a more expensive hotel by bidding higher; lately I seem to doubt that just a bit because it seems (very unscientific) that, at least in San Francisco, if you start your bid low, you are pretty certain to get one of a few hotels; start at $85.00 and the picks are completely different hotels, for the same time period, of course. If one wouls like to take this to a different area (such as Off Topic) please feel free. I would like to get a dialogue going regarding this subject.

Thanks

By the way, for some reason, I was expecting to get the financial center Hilton, a hotel that I like very much

Thanks for sharing your win with the board... glad you received the hotel you were hoping for.

I don't think the theory is that you won't receive a more expensive hotel by bidding higher... but rather it is very risky to do so as you run the risk of overbidding.

If you'd like to re-open a dialogue on this subject feel free to add your thoughts to the existing: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTEL thread.

Thanks againfor the post... have a great stay. :)
