IBDP Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Began with $60.00 bid which was rejected. Rebid $67.00 with free rebid area. Accepted. I know that it has been the theory from this board that one cannot get a more expensive hotel by bidding higher; lately I seem to doubt that just a bit because it seems (very unscientific) that, at least in San Francisco, if you start your bid low, you are pretty certain to get one of a few hotels; start at $85.00 and the picks are completely different hotels, for the same time period, of course. If one wouls like to take this to a different area (such as Off Topic) please feel free. I would like to get a dialogue going regarding this subject.ThanksBy the way, for some reason, I was expecting to get the financial center Hilton, a hotel that I like very much
thereuare Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Thanks for sharing your win with the board... glad you received the hotel you were hoping for.I don't think the theory is that you won't receive a more expensive hotel by bidding higher... but rather it is very risky to do so as you run the risk of overbidding. If you'd like to re-open a dialogue on this subject feel free to add your thoughts to the existing: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTEL thread. Thanks againfor the post... have a great stay. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
