TonyJX Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 I have been trying to bid through Priceline and have seen bids for a 3 star hotel in Philadelphia (Downtown & Airport) frequently run around $60 or so. I have a trip planned to Philly from June 13-17. I have tried unsuccessfully over the past several nights to bid on a 3 star hotel starting with Philadelphia Airport and then expanding to Downtown, I started at $51 and have increase my bid by about $3 each try. I am already up to $80 and no luck. Is it better to wait closer to the travel date or does it not really make a difference how far ahead you bid for a hotel?
dahammer Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 what is your budget for this trip? Also, the Airport and Downtown zones are completely different, are you sure you want to stay at PHL? HOTWIRE has a 3.5* Customer Favorite in the Historic District with the following amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business for $112, this is likely the Sheraton Society Hill with one of the best locations in the City for the tourist stuff. Please use the HOTWIRE link above if you proceed.
TonyJX Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 I wouldn't mind staying Downtown, but I would perfer the Airport location because it is between Aston (my hometown) and Downtown. I think I might hold off a little while before trying to bid again for a hotel, just so see if the price might fluxuate. I am also considering Holiday Inn Stadium which is the only 2 star in the stadium area but I have reservations about staying there because I would like a nicer hotel and last time I used priceline I got stuck in a smoking floor after serveral requests for non smoking. I would like to budget myself to $85 a night because after tax thats $400 for 4 nights
