hhbean Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Hey thereuare,Quick question ... I know you are always talking about Hotwire dealing with the Wynn even though it's not on the list here. Looking at rates for 3/14-3/16, I see the Venetian at $239 and the Wynn at $384 on their respective websites. Hotwire's only 5* is $275 with a retail of $384. This has got to be the Wynn, no? Or are they just screwing with me? The amenities are identical to the Venetian including the Customer Favorite. I realize I'd be covered under the double the difference if it turned out to be the Venetian but...On a side note, I know you like maximums and what not before giving bidding advice but do you know off the top of your head the neighborhood of what the Venetian usually goes for on PL when it's web rate is $239?
thereuare Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 The "retail price" suggested by HOTWIRE is not a reliable means to identify hotels... plenty of examples where it's been complete erroneous. Hotwire's stance is that the retail price is for that star quality and not for the particular hotel. Given the actual website prices you mention above, and some of the Customer Favorite comments, i'd lean towards this being the Wynn, but in reality it could be either. Can't necessarily comment on the maximum bid, as it often depends upon the breakdown (if you look at your stay nite-by-nite you'll see that rates aren't $239 each nite... but rather $199 the first nite and $279 the second nite). I'm guessing you're looking at close to (or over) $200 to be successful on Priceline although HOTWIRE's price (and perhaps showing the Wynn) would imply there may not even be availability offered by the Venetian. Please remember to use this HOTWIRE link for any purchases you make.Let us know how it goes and what you decide to do or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
hhbean Posted March 24, 2007 Author Report Posted March 24, 2007 Ended up going with the Aladdin at 94.50 a night. Rate was through my Sheraton corporate account. No one (priceline, hotwire, etc) could even come remotely close to that rate at a 4* property.
dahammer Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 please note that Sheraton hotels may be booked through BetterBidding's Support Page :)
