fugazi Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 I'm trying to book a 4* for New York MTW for the dates 3/27/07 through 4/1/07. Is this too far in advance to bid? I'm kind of neurotic about things like this, and I want to know where I'm staying way ahead of time.I've tried $100, $110, and $125 with no luck. Am I correct that there are no free re-bid zones for 4* hotels? I've searched the list but didn't see any. I don't really want MTE, I want MTW.I also looked back a year ago, and it seems that a bid of $125 should be within acceptable ranges for MTW.
dahammer Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 you shouldn't use the lists to determine rebid zones, you really need to do this each time that you begin a bidding session. Its pretty easy to do, just check each box individually for each bidding zone and you will see which zones have star ratings of less than 4*. What was acceptable last year is irrelevant, prices are up and if the hotel is filling its rooms at rack rates, it does not have to supply room inventory to Priceline.

I've used Priceline a bunch, and never thought to do it the way that you mentioned; it makes sense though! I didn't think New York would be this expensive in March, but I'm still out of luck with a bid of $140! Yikes!
fugazi Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 I think my last post never made it, so I'm reposting.Looking for a quality 4* Hotel in MTW, checking in on 3/27/2007, checking out on 4/01/2007. I have bid on Priceline up to $225 a night, to no avail. EasyClickTravel has the Paramount available for $150 a night, but the reviews on Tripadvisor are not promising. I'm booking for two rooms, and splitting the time is not really an option. I would consider a 3* in MTW if it was considerably cheaper ($130ish) and had good reviews on Tripadvisor. Also, if no-smoking is an option, that would be great! Please help if you can! Thanks!
mill4023 Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I tried about a month ago, going up to $165 and was unable to get a 4* in MTW, MTE for 3/29 - 4/01.I currently have the Michelangelo booked for $295 on 3/29 and $240 on 3/30 and 3/31.Hotel Mela is also available on Travelzoo for $189, but it's a new hotel and doesn't have many reviews yet.
