sdirector77 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 OK, I will try to be brief in explaning my dilemia. Want a one night stay Feb 24th in downtown Miami, cruise passenger. I have bid several times over the past few weeks using some of the suggestions listed in the forum with no success. Would prefer 1st choice of 4* and second 3*. Want to find the best deal available however would spend up to $125.00 per night before taxes and fees. In reading thought it best to maybe wait a week or so and see if my chances would improve. Any helpor suggestions would be greatly be appreciated. Thanks. :) sdirector77
thereuare Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Welcome to BetterBidding!Demand seems much higher than usual for these dates... do you know of soemthing happening in the area besides typical cruise ship arrivals/departures?Do you have a back-up? (if so, where and how much?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
sdirector77 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 No I am not sure of any special activity in the area other than Super Bowl this upcoming weekend. I have not arranged backup yet. Another optain for me would be FFL Airport area. We actually fly into FFL but cruise out of Miami.
thereuare Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 So do you want a strategy to try for the FLL airport now or did you want to hold out a bit for a Miami hotel? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
sdirector77 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 I would prefer Miami as my first choice, most likely I will wait and continue to attempting Miami and if needed will grab something in FFL if I am unsuccessful. Any thoughts on recent postings I have read that my chances may increase if I wait 2 weeks out? Thanks again for all your helpsdirector77
thereuare Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 As far as whether bidding early or close to arrival is best, see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
fierysand Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Same problem. I need a one night pre-cruise stay for Feb 24th in downtown Miami and today I used the strategies suggested on this board and bid up to $130 for a 4* and $115 for a 3* but all were rejected. I will do more research then try again tomorrow. I'll let you know if I'm successful.Sandie
sdirector77 Posted February 3, 2007 Author Report Posted February 3, 2007 Thanks, I have now reserved a backup but can cancel if I am able to get something better. I figure only need a place to nap and plan on getting to the port early. Would like to know if you are successful. Thanks and good luck :)
thereuare Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 fierysand,Please start a NEW TOPIC for your own stay as the dates are different then the OP of this thread. If successful, you'll then also have a thread of your own (where we can put the details of your win in the topic title) and you can also come back here to add a link to your winning bid.sdirector77,Where and how much is your back-up? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
fierysand Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 thereuare- nope same date (feb 24th) but I can start a new topic if thats the rules of the board.sdirector77-same here. i booked the days inn as a back up but if i get something better i will come back here and post a link and let you know.Sandie
thereuare Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Usually posts for the same dates can go in the same thread... but as this thread is covering both Miami and Ft Lauderdale (and may make a "ft lauderdale turn"), we'll continue the discussion for your stay in the NEW TOPIC that you have created in order to kee things a bit more tidy.Of course you can still feel free to post general discussions with sdirector77 in this thread too :) (maybe you're both cruising together! :) )Thanks! sdirector77 Posted February 3, 2007 Author Report Posted February 3, 2007 I must say I am disappointed that I have not been successful in Miami, not the end of the world though, I have booked a back up and will continue to try. Not sure what is happening in Miami this weekend as I have checked different events website for Miami, oh well, pre cruise will soon be forgotten, I was successful for post cruse in FLL and I am happen with those accomodations. At most in Miami it will be a few hur nap and off to the Carnival Victory. I am taking a great attitude and will deal with whatever cards that are dealt. Good luck and if successful please post.
fierysand Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 thereuare- nope we are on different ships. We are sailing on the Freedom of the Seas (for the 2nd time)....can't wait! :) sdirector77-I think that the problem is that it is the tail end of Presidents week(I think) so the hotels may be fairly booked with that. If you click on the link NEW TOPIC in the post above you can see that I bid quite high and was still unsuccessful for Miami for Feb 24th. Good luck and have a great cruise!Sandie
sdirector77 Posted February 4, 2007 Author Report Posted February 4, 2007 Ok that makes sense for the Holiday, I have the Contintential Downtown Miami, yes I know not good reviews but like I said earlier, just a nap and a shower, I am taking along a fabulous attitude as nothing is going to ruin this cruise. Today it is 1 degree, yes I said 1!! Even the worst hotel in Miami is better than that, lol. I will keep trying and post if successful.
