I'm looking for a one night pre cruise stay for Feb 24th in the Downtown Miami area. I've been using Priceline but have been unsuccessful so far. I started my bidding at $80 and I've bid up to $130 for the 4* and $115 for the 3* but all bids have been unsuccessful.

Well I didn't really have a max in mind but I don't think that there are deals to be had for this date. I went back today and used the techniques suggested on this board and bid up to $195 for a 4* and $175 for a 3* and all bids were unsuccessful and I'm just not willing to go any higher so I guess those amounts are my max. Our flight gets in after midnight and we will be leaving for the port in the morning so we really just need a place to sleep.

I managed to get the days inn by the airport for $116 using the AAA rate and they have free shuttle service for the airport and for the port. I may be incorrect on dates(as I am Canadian) but I think that since its the tail end of Presidents week (I think) that may be why the prices are so high. Even though I couldn't find a deal for this cruise I am going to try to find one for our cruise in March out of Fort Lauderdale. Actually thinking about it I may try to low ball a 2* and a 2and a half* and see what happens cause I'm sure that the Days Inn is probably a 2* at most. Thanks for you help and your suggestions. :)

I too am trying to get a 4* Miamia downtown pre-cruise hotel for Feb 24th. I bid from $80 to $200 for a 4* downtown hotel with no success. I bid from $50 to $100 for a 4* miami airport hotel with no success.

I have not tried bidding on a 3* Miami downtown hotel because I have acquired a back hotel that is in this category (the Radisson). It's not exactly where I would want to stay, but will do. My company has a special rate for the Radisson so I'm only willing to pay up to the above amounts for a 4*. The Hyatt downtown is sold out. Their local reservation person told me they have 3 wedding parties that weekend plus the winding down of president's week. I believe the Intercontinental downtown still has rooms but only the suites are left at $300 plus. This is actually where I wanted to stay, so that is why I am willing to go up to $200 for the downtown area (my thinking is the hyatt has no availability and the Intercontinental is within walking distance of the bayside shops & restaurants).

I will post if I am successful before sailing. Oh, by the way we are on the Freedom of the Seas also!

thereuare- thats a good suggestion. I will go to savingsbarn to try and bid on the airport zone with priceline.

dld- Hi there. Apparently there are also 7 ships in port this day so that is probably another reason for the high prices. I kinda thought that some of the hotels may be sold out and thats why the bids have been unsuccessful. I am going to try the aiport zone and see what happens. Off topic but have you joined the roll call for the Freedom. Not sure what the rules are for posting links here but hopefully this is okay. Heres the link for our roll call thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread....109&page=27 please stop by and post.
