blkjck1 Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 First time bidding on a rental car on Priceline, and may have bid too much, but this was a bit of an experiment to see how far we could go.Your Offer Price: $16.00 Total Rental Days: 3 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Fees: $10.83 Total Charges: $58.83 I cancelled a reservation with National Car that offered a preferred business rate of a 10% discount and a $20 coupon for a 3 day weekend and automatic check-in with an all in cost of $99. Avis' rack rate with an all in cost was $133. I may regret doing this, as there is nothing that drives me more nuts than standing in line for a car rental at LAX at the booths, but we'll see if Pricelining it at LAX is worth it. Booked as always through savingsbarn.com. Proud to be Canadian!
thereuare Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Thanks for using the SB links :)Whle standing in line is certainly aggrevating at the time, try to think of it this way...You saved ~$40 for this rental, with all things being equal, except for having to wait in line. If takes you 20 minutes of waitng in line, that's $120/hour your earning for standing in line. I'd hang out at the bank, post office, rental car line, etc, alll day long if i could earn $100+ per hour to stand inline for people!Good Luck... let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
