hadas Posted January 4, 2007 Author Report Posted January 4, 2007 i realize that i am one day early but due to changes in plans (i.e. friends joining) the question arises:do i need a different strategy if i plan to order 4 or 5 rooms?thanks again
thereuare Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 That's "ok"... i'm fine on time now (wasn't the day you originally posted). You can only bid for a maximum of 4 rooms on Priceline (or HOTWIRE). If you need five rooms you can make mulitple purchases, but there is no assurance that you'll receive the same hotel for both purchases.Let us know when your confirmed the number of rooms you need and we'll suggest a strategy from there. hadas Posted January 4, 2007 Author Report Posted January 4, 2007 understood,i will try 3 rooms and then probably try to add 2 rooms ( I realize that there is no guarantee for winning same hotel)
thereuare Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Before spending $250+ on a hotel room i'll offer a suggestion:"Don't spend so much on a pre-cruise stay"I have had a similar experience as you're seeking, except it was one nite in South Beach during a stopover on a return flight. After a day of traveling (which i presume you and your group will be doing) we were tired and didn't get to really experience the full potential of South Beach... nor do many cruise ship passengers. Most are also tired from travel and/or don't have any interest partying to the wee hours of the morning the nite before embarkation. Besides the cost of hotels being higher than other parts of Miami (which are close t the pier), taxi fare from the airport and to the pier is also a bit more expensive than other areas which are a bit closer to the pier.It seems as if hotel quality is important to you... how about something such as the InterContinental for $129/nite. I'm not saying you have to stay here (although i'd welcome the chance at that price), but to use it as an example, is staying directly in South Beach (even given my thoughts above) worth twice as much?Everyone is different, so may you will go out clubbing until the early hours of the morning (wich is fine and perhaps makes spending the extra money for South Beach worth it to you)... but for most a nice hotel with a short trip to the pier the next day is what they're ideally seeking. The InterContinental gives you this and also leaves a LOT in your pocket to go and have a nice dinner with your friends the nite before the cruise.Maybe you still want to bid South Beach, and if so just let us know... but given the price of a perfectly acceptable alternative i wouldn't recommend bidding as high as $250/nite for the privelege of doing so.Let us know your thoughts.
