ravinia Posted January 19, 2004 Report Share Posted January 19, 2004 We were lucky enough to get this one again; I need to add that we've stayed here conventionally several times when PL didn't come through but web rates were reasonable. The tall fence (with a late night gate closure) means secure parking if you have stuff that you'd rather not cart up to your room, like trade fair gear. (Also keeps out cruising 'boom cars' playing the latest Snoopy Doggy Doo for the enjoyment of hundreds of guests). Memphis has a bad reputation for hotel/motel lot trouble; even the FBI got ripped off here!This property is easily the equivilant of most PL 4 *s; some 3*s have been atrocious. They have a decent restaurant with a really nice breakfast buffet for $12 or so. Set clock radio to WEVL in the public band, or to get you up for the buffet (ends at 9:30 weekdays) try WRBO 103.5 for real R&B (heard the slogan "NO RAP"), with interestingly enough about the highest ratings in town across the race/sex/age/income spectrum. :) Link to comment
