Mock Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Staying in London January 13-17, 2007 2 rooms needed 2 adults and 3 children. We were quoted 99.00 per room 3.5* London (Kensington-Earls Court-Knightsbridge). Amenities are Fitness Center, Business Center and Restaurant(s) listed as a "Best Value" Seems like should be the Holiday Inn Kennsington from your list but is not listed as a "Best Value" on your list. Thanks For your Help LOVE THE BOARD!!!!
WillTravel Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 These amenities are general enough that at least several hotels could qualify. I think it sounds like a very good deal, and if you are not too picky, all of the possibilities would likely be acceptable. The Holiday Inn Kensington Forum is a strong possibility, for sure, but not the only option. So far as I can tell, Hotwire is using "Best Value" to mean the best value hotel in the search that you did, not to describe hotels in general. For example, in this case for this search for your dates and people, the best value hotel, considering star value and price, is this 3.5* option.
thereuare Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Indeed, the Best Value designation is search specific and not hotel specific (unlike Customer Favorite designations). The Best Value is determined by comparing the price of the hotel to the other options at higher/lower star ratings. So on tow different dates, if the following star ratings/prices are offered:4* $2003.5* $100 (Best Value)3* $904* $100 (Best Value)3.5* $1003* $90These may be the same hotels offered on each search, but based upon a different price for the 4* hotel, the Best Value designation can change. Please use this HOTWIRE link for any purchases you make.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Mock Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 Thanks for the info. Not sure I want to take the chance with Hotwire cause my other concern is that there is no guarantee on connecting rooms. Since we are traveling as a family needs the rooms next door to each other. What is your feeling on the odds of getting connecting rooms ?
WillTravel Posted December 1, 2006 Report Posted December 1, 2006 The problem is that even with regular booking, adjoining rooms aren't usually guaranteed (at least that's my recollection). If you were placed on the same floor, could you live with that?
