dahammer Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 I was trying to get the Marriott Courtyard in Tarrytown for tonight. Started my Priceline bidding through Savingsbarn.com at the 3* level and bid $75, Rejected. Went down to the 2.5* and bid $80 then $85 and received a counteroffer to raise my bid by $22. I added a rebid zone and then tried to undercut the counteroffer by bidding $91, but received another $22 counteroffer. Added my last rebid zone and increased bid to $97....success!Your Offer Price: $97.00Taxes & Service Fees: $18.96Total Charges: $115.96This is a fairly new hotel, maybe only 3 years old, free wifi, all non-smoking rooms, a small indoor pool and free breakfast. The rooms are basically mini-suites and have a tiny microwave, small sink, refrigerator, and a Melitta in room "pod" coffe maker, yum. It always strikes me as being odd that a nice property like this gets the same 2.5* rating as some of the older hotels that go begging for being refurbished such as a Ramada Inn and Sheraton Four Points. Really happy that I did not have to go to the 2* level and possibly get the Extended Stay, or end up with the Wellesley. The online rate was $209 so I'm pretty happy with the results. Dining options are a bit limited in this area without a car, but the hotel shuttle will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius, so you can go to the Ruth's Chris' Steak House down the road a couple miles at the Marriott or head north to the Village of Sleepy Hollow.
