giaov
Hi, I've been trying to book a 4* hotel in NYC - Midtown South for the weekend 11/30/06 - 12/3/06. I've tried all the way from $220 - $325, but got shot down all the way. Is there any other way to find out how much I should try for? Thanks in advance! Link to comment
dahammer
rates are sky high for your dates of travel, EasyClickTravel Travel is well over $400 per night and Hotwire does not even show a 4* for your dates. What is your maximum budget per night? Link to comment
giaov
My maximum budget is $400/night. Thanks very much for your help! Link to comment
AaronJB
Throwing out a couple of suggestions: Neither is a 4*, but was just trying to find reasonable rates (in NYC in general) during this time (a difficult task):Quikbook.com has the Wall Street District Hotel for $375. That is a 3* that is a recently renovated former Holiday Inn that looks like it has gotten noticably improved reviews since changing ownership. They also have the Helmsley Middletowne for $380 for a 1BR Suite. The Ramada Plaza Inn/Suites would also fall into your price range, I believe.Just a few thoughts on under $400 properties if nothing comes through via Hotwire or PL. The Helmsley gets the best reviews of the bunch.Quikbook reservations are free to cancel if not prepaid (prepaid are $10 to cancel, according to the website, which is less than other sites.) If one of the two Quikbook properties looks good, you may want to book one so you have a back-up reservation (and a place to stay if you can't find anything else) and then cancel (definitely remember to cancel if you get something else) if you are able to get something via Priceline or Hotwire. AaronJB
With the Helmsley, at least you'd get free breakfast, as well. Link to comment
thereuare
There are not many hotels at the 4* level in MTS, and what there are, have typically been VERY expensive. Do you absoluately need to be in the MTS zone... or might a nearby zone (such as MTE and MTW) suffice?Three star hotels are not as scarse, nor are they much more expensive as their neighbor zones (such as is the case at the 4* level). Is lowering to 3* or bidding another zone at the 4* level be an option?Let us know and we'll advise as to how to proceed and look at your options. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
giaov
Tried $325 - Midtown South - No good. Suggested bid at $476.Tried $350 - Add Upper Westside - No good.Later tried:Tried $375 - Shut down.Tried $400- Add Upper Westside - Got Morgans Hotel.Hotel's official website has it for $489/night. But they do have special rates (coupon code) for their email subcribers. Oh well... This hotel has mixed review on TripAdvisor.com. Either really good or really bad. But all good on Yahoo Travel. I am quite nervous. Hopefully, the room won't have smelly like some reviewers said on TripAdvisor.Thank you much! Link to comment
ericasan
Question, for your winning bid $400, Upper Westside - Got Morgans Hotel, was it 3 Star or 4 Star?? Thanks, I am hoping to try what you bid for similar dates :) Link to comment
giaov
It was a 4* on Priceline. Tripadvisor has it as 4* as well. But reviews are mixed. People either really like it or hate it. I keep my fingers crossed!By the way, Morgan is in the Midtown-South. Not UWS. UWS has only 2* hotels on Priceline. Link to comment
