lauraflirt Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I am looking for 4* downtown los angeles for the night before thanksgiving 11/22-11/23.First Bid- $50 rejectedSecond bid- $56 rejectedIt looks like South Bay and Pasadena are the free zones because they dont have any 4 *, but when i go to add a zone, it dosnt have a South Bay or Pasadena choice??? What should be my next bid?
dahammer Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 if you are bidding for a 4* in Downtown LA, you have 5 rebid zones. You can find these by checking each box individually and noting the highest Star rating for each zone. With these zones you have a total of 16 bidding opportunities at the 4* level.
Hunnypot4pooh Posted November 7, 2006 Report Posted November 7, 2006 I recently booked the 4* Westin Bonaventure in Downtown L.A. for $69.I used the Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey and Beverly Hills area options to get more bids because I knew there was no way I was going to get a 4* in those areas that cheap. Worked for me...Good luck.

Worked for me........but if it does not, you might regret it. This can be risky and although I occasionally do it when bidding in the Newark NJ zone I don't recommend it. It has backfired on me once, I really wanted a 3* in the Secaucus NJ zone, but Priceline was showing me no love....I added Jersey City as a rebid, assuming that the JC Hyatt or Doubletree would not accept my low bid, well surprise, surprise!! I got the Hyatt in Jersey City. Granted, this is a really great hotel for visiting Manhattan, but Parking and WiFi charges add $42 to my stay and put me in a zone that was less convenient. While the chance of a 4* hotel accepting a bid in Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey and Beverly Hills/West Hollywood zones may be slim, its really unnecessary since there are 5 other zones that only have 3*'s or less. If you get rejected at the 4* level, you have an additional 15 rebid opportunities by adding these zones. Lets say the Downtown zone is "A" and the 5 other zones are B,C,D,E,F.You could have a total of 16 bids:A, AB,AC,AD,AE,AF,ABC,ABD, ABE,ABF,ABCD,ABCE,ABCF,ABCF,ABCDE,ABCDF,ABCDEF

But if I were to score the 4* Santa Monica Beach Hotel for under $70, I would have found a way to live with it (suffer, suffer). :) (And then I would be sure to make that "mistake" again on my next vacation! LOL!)Thank you for the bidding tips!
