stan1162 Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I tried up to 69$ on Priceline, but all failed. I knew there was a 4* on Hotwire that was probably the Crown Plaza Ravinia. The ammenities listed- Rest. Pool, Weights, and Buisiness ctr. Selected that, and sure enough it was. The hotel is my idea of a 3 maybe 3.5 star in features, but the staff makes it. The initially gave me a room for myself and 2 children with 1 king bed, and on a floor with some sort of college meeting with lots of young adults around. Went back to the front desk and asked for two beds on a quieter floor. Just drove all day from Sarasota, and needed a good nights sleep! They were VERY accomodating, and gave me a great room at the end of the hall, on another floor.
krlbrgmnn Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 I have stayed at the Ravinia (4*), as well as the Powers Ferry one (3.5*) just down the road, and find that, on a room-room comparison, the Powers Ferry location is as good a value as its more expensive couterpart. The PF location is smaller, older, and less impressive inside (and just as ugly outside) but I wouldn't pay the "premium" to stay at the Ravinia as it is showing numerous signs of aging too (basic things, like the ugly, peeling, gray-painted handrails running down through the central plaza/garden, aren't being maintained). I do agree that customer service was fairly cheerful/pleasant, even though they locked us out of our room the next day, even though we were booked for 2 nights (this has happened at an increasing number of hotels, I've found).I also note, after having been on HW all day, that the 3.5* & 4* hotels are increasing in price throughout the day, averaging about +$6 as of late afternoon. I've never spent all day checking such things, so this is the first I've noticed. Perhaps others can comment on this in the general posts section. My impression is that the bids went up after I bought my room earlier today. A Marietta/Vinings 4* went from $52 to $58 in 3 hrs.
