dahammer Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 same day bidding for a hotel in either the JFK area or Brooklyn, I was sort of hoping to get the Days Inn as I had stayed here a few weeks ago. Started out at the 3* level and bid $90 for the Brooklyn zone. Rejected, so dropped to 2.5* and bid $90. Rejected, dropped to 2* and bid $90, Success!Your Offer Price: $90.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $23.50 Total Charges*: $113.50 this might be a slight overbid since the "rack rate" on the Days Inn website was $119; my previous win was $110 with a rack rate of $139. I didn't have a lot of rebid zones at the 2* level, so if time is on your side, you may want to start off at a lower bid. Hope I get one of the 8 parking spots out front (and it doesn't rain tonight so I can walk to dinner) :)
thereuare Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Glad you received the hotel you were hoping for and are looking forward to your return... hopefully as enjoyable as your previous stay. Thanks for the post! dahammer Posted October 6, 2006 Author Report Posted October 6, 2006 upon checking out, found out that the hotel billed Priceline $104.59 for room and tax, so unless the revenue manager of this property loads multiple rates into the Priceline system, $90 looks like its close to the minimum. I still can't believe how small the room was...the bathroom was roughly 4' x 4' not including the tub,.....the room itself was about 12' x 13' and included a queen bed, desk, small refrigerator, TV Armoire, and closet. No room for an ironing board! This room would be tight for double occupancy, you'd be bumping into each other all the time....maybe not such a bad thing!I ended up getting one of the 8 parking spots out front and didn't move it 'cause I didn't want to loose it...
