webcol Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks for the great site.I'm flying into Ft. Lauderdale on January 20th/06 and staying one night before my cruise that leaves on Jan 21st.Can anyone tell me how far the airport is to the port where the cruise ships are?I'm thinking of staying near the port. Anyone have any suggestions as places to stay? I'm looking for a 3, 4, or better star place. What prices would I be looking at approximately?Looking to book within the next week or 2 through the recommended link.Thanks.Webcom. :)
thereuare Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Can anyone tell me how far the airport is to the port where the cruise ships are?See our sister site: HotelsByThePier.com which will give you an overview of the area as well as dirving distances from the hotels to the pier. For pre-cruise most look at Downtown or the Airport zone, but some also consider the Beach zone.Let us know when you're actually ready to book so we'll be dealing with the most recent and up-to-date rates for your stay. webcol Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 I'm ready to bid...any suggestions to start if I'm looking 4 star? Thanks.W
thereuare Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Which zone(s) did you decide to include in your bidding? What is your maximum bid... we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you wanted to spend. webcol Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 I'd prefer at least a 4 star downtown, but will consider the beach and airport area if necessary. Looking to spend as little as possible. $100 would be the most I'd like to spend. Thanks.

webcol Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 How long should I wait before rebidding?thanks.webcol.
thereuare Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 If you're not adding any zones and/or not raising your bid i would try once a week or so. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ipegleg Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 What hotel are you targetting for?? the only 4* I see in those areas is 4* Hyatt Pier 66 I stayed one night before a cruise and got the embassy suites FLL for something like $75/night. It was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at and was very close to the ships.Take a look at the pinned 3*s and see if there are any absolutely NOTs and if not bid down a notch.
webcol Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 I'm not targeting any specific hotel. I had planned on sticking with 4star as they are usually better. Just looking for a nice place to stay before a cruise. Do you think 3stars are okay around that area?Thanks.Webcol.

It's highest star is 2*. (Getting ready to bid 3* FLL Airport, and wanted to use Hollywood and Miramar as free re-bid areas.)Thx,-Bob
thereuare Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Hollywood is not a re-bid zone because the highest star level offered there is Resort... not 2*.The star rating you select is the minimum star rating you are willing to accept, as you could be ugpraded to a higher star rated property (in this case, your 4* bid could land you a Resort proerty in Hollywood).Full disccusion of re-bidding can be found here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedPlease start a NEW TOPIC if you would like further help regarding your stay.
