Hotwire Hotel: 3* Florence (Central) Hotel La Residenza

Thanks to thos Hotwire Florence post:

I just booked it for $72 from Aug 19 to 21st.

Hotel looks good and for the price in Florence, its not bad at all.

Hope that all taxes are included already.

total crap. my la residenza reservation was just cancelled as they want removed from hotwire list. They should honor all outstanding contracts. total garbage.

Did Hotwire send you an email about this? They should compensate you in some way. By having this reservation, and then cancelling it later, you missed out on chances to reserve at numerous hotels, which might now be filled up.

I've been a little busy to post that I won the hotel. I think legally they have to hold up their end of the contract. I am pissed off. Every nice cheap bb and hotel is booked oct 19-22

I bitched like crazy in an email and they gave me $50 credit. Since every hotel is now $100 more than what I paid for La Residenza this is not great but its better than nothing I guess.

I'm going to post this in it's own thread and in mine (for the same hotel) but I wanted to give it as an update and a warning.

I am surprised to see third parties can set up hotel accounts on hotwire! That seems scary and I am going to confirm my other Italy reservations right after this.

This email is from the hotel directly:

"The problem is that we have any agreement with the company "Hotwire": it was unknown untill past week when, suddenly,

some guests arrived here with unexpected reservations.

We can not accept vouchers (on line vouchers above all) illegally issued by unknown companies.

For these reasons, we suggest you to cancell as soon as possible your reservation with Hotwire and find another way to come to Florence.

For your complete information: our rate for a double room with bath in the period Sep 13 - Sep 17 is Eur 170.00 p/day including buffet breakfast."
