Just got the Edingurgh Marriott for $101 p.n. for August 3rd to 7th 2006.

I tried $75 then just jumped to $101.

It is always worth trying Priceline if they have hotels showing in the city you

Can you confirm that the star rating and zones are correct... and that that was indeed the Marriott Dalmahoy that you won?

Thanks, and enjoy your stay.

The title should read 4* Edinburgh (City Centre West) Marriott.

This is the one near the Gyle centre and not too far from the airport either. In years gone past it was the Swallow and before that the Royal Scot. It is not in the center of Edinburgh. From what I can see on Priceline map I would guess it is on the edges of the west city centre zone. It is near the airport and a shopping mall and on the bus route if you do not have your own transport.

Perhaps Chillman can confirm the area in which he placed a bid and his bid history. The Dalmahoy is a much grander hotel with its own golf course and country club and I believe it would fit into the Airport and South west zone.

Edinburgh is very busy in August with the festival going on so this is a good rate.

I have stayed there a few times and it was fine for my needs and I think at the price you got it in the height of the festival it's a steal.

I stayed at this hotel last month and it was nice enough. In the U.S. it would be considered a 3* but Europe hotels often get rated higher, so 4* is acceptable. It was quiet and comfortable.

I booked it on marriott.com using the still-valid "International Stay for Breakfast" rate. I paid 125 pounds, tax and breakfast included. As a result of the promotional rate and paying with Visa, upon checkout I received a voucher for 100 pounds (yes, pounds - not US$ as the ad says) that can be used at Marriott hotels worldwide toward a two-night stay. I will probably find an opportunity where this voucher will cover the entire bill for two nights, so in essence I got three nights for around $72 each. Awesome deal. And remember, you can support betterbidding.com by accessing Marriott's website from the "Travel Links" above.
