tgenius Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hello, I'm looking for a nice 4 star hotel for the 17th of March, 1 night, to checkout on the 18th which will be the night I get married. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the minimum star rating you're seeking? What is your maximum bid?Are these the only two zones you're interested in? (downtown possible too?) tgenius Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 I would prefer those as I'm flying out to Las Vegas on the 18th of March (but that's another thread in itself!) and they are in closer proximity to the airport, and are some nice hotels. I'd like to go 4* preferrably.

tgenius Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 Sorry, hadn't seen that part! :) I would like to spend no more than 150 for the night, since I'm going to Vegas the next week and blowing alot more on hotel/airfare/food/shows. Your help is greatly appreciated!
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 When bidding 4* in the above areas you have four re-bid zones availabe. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Coconut Grove...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Airport...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* Coconut Grove and Airport...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110.I would start with the above... any questions feel free to ask. If rejected we'll then discuss some things a bit further (like if worthwhile to lock-in a non-refundable reservation this early before your stay for much more than the above (although i'm sure you have other things to take care of right now :) )Good Luck and let us know how the above goes. tgenius Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 I tried Airport + Coconut Grove for 70 and was denied, but I don't know what zones do not have the 4star to try the re-bid. :) I tried a bunch of values up to 93 including grove/airport plus some of the other zones and no dice :)
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 If you don't understand something we type please stop and ask questions before proceeding... we dont' want you to overpay or end up in an area you don't really want.Did you read the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained link? If you did and you're confused, list each zone in the Miami area and the highest star rating available in each zone, using the following technique:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. tgenius Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 Actually, I understood the process for the different zones, but unfortunately it keeps telling me that its a duplicate attempt or something to that effect. Obviously, I'm not in a rush, but I'd like to get a 4 star (prefer) in gables/coconut grove but all the way to $110 and no dice :)
thereuare Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Have you looked at HOTWIRE?Do you not like the reported 4* hotels in the Downtown zone? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tgenius Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 The downtown hotels are nice, but since I'm going to be going to the airport the next day, Grove/Airport area is a little closer to the airport.
bellisq Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 actually I think downtown is closer to the airport, but the grove and downtown are only 4 miles apart. The intercontinental at Bayside often has a good rate through EasyClickTravel
