mlaurence Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Using the bids on BetterBidding as a guideline, I was successful at $68 for one night, 8/9, near Don Mills, at the Radisson Toronto East. It's listed as a 3* property. Priceline added $17.32 in taxes and fees. I tried several other bids in the low to mid 60's so I think this is close to the lowest successful bid I could get. It was a little more than I wanted to pay and not in my first choice location of downtown Toronto but considering the Toronto hotel rates in general and the high Canadian dollar, I feel it's a good value. It looks like this Radisson is about 40 minutes away from downtown by subway, although a bit of a walk or a short bus ride to Don Mills station.
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I've separated your post into its own thread so that others will see your win when scanning the topic title; this will also add your success to the 'recent wins' link on the priceline map for this area.Do you recall the amount of your highest previously rejected bid at the 3* level which included the Downtown zone? Thanks for the post. mlaurence Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 My previous losing bid was $64 for 2.5 stars, including Toronto downtown, Don Mills, and one other neighborhood (Toronto East, I think). So when I succeeded at $68 for 3 stars, that seems to be close to the edge. I had also bid unsuccessfully at $51 for 2 stars in Toronto downtown and the other two areas.
GM Mike Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Wait -- is your winning hotel within the Downtown zone or in some other zone?
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 I think you're right... in re-reading the above i think the hotel won was the Radisson East which is in the (Vaughn-North York) zone.I may have messed this up when i separated the threads (because it was originally post as a repy to a Toronto Downtown failed bid thread) but it also doesn't appear that the Vaughn/North York zone was selected when bidding.I'm going to edit the topic title to reflect the Vaughn/Norht York zone, but hopefully the OP can clarify. mlaurence Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hi...my apologies as a newbie if I've confused anyone (or everyone!)The hotel is near Don Mills, not in downtown Toronto. I was originally replying to a poster who spoke of that neighborhood, along with downtown, so my info was of particular interest in that thread. As a stand-alone piece of info, I'm talking about the "Radisson Hotel - Toronto East," in the Vaughn-North York region.
thereuare Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hi...my apologies as a newbie if I've confused anyone (or everyone!)No need to apoligize... i was confused before you even got here :) I think it's all straight now... thanks for the follow-up :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
